Jason Furman on Marty Feldstein

Marty Feldstein was the economist’s economist.  I first heard his name in 1971 when I was working at Data Resources, Inc.  His career was long and illustrious. He passed away June 11. The New York Times has a long obituary.

Jason Furman, a pretty good economist himself, tweeted a long thread that is both a remembrance of Marty and some thoughts on the relationship between academic and policy economics.  This is a worthwhile read, I promise.  Posted here with Prof. Furman’s permission.
